- I think that students are learning on the internet, and at the same time while they do this, they are learning about the internet. Through repeated use and browsing, students become more familiar with the many uses and features that the internet has to offer. I think that the money a school spends on its internet access, equipment, and IT personnel is totally worth it. Especially the money spent on IT personnel. They are, in a sense, teachers themselves. The knowledge that they share with the school staff is vital to the running of the school. If it is just a simple technical problem with a printer or a computer, or a more advanced solution, in this day in age with the amount of technology being used, the schools IT team needs to become a teachers best friend.
Personally, I would love to integrate MIDs into my classroom. I have not yet integrated them into my PS1 or PS2 classroom, but hope to do so when I start my PS3 semester. I fought against them a lot in PS2, but after taking this course and learning about all the different ways that they can be implemented, I feel like you need to embrace the use of MIDs and phones, not fight it. I think that banning and fighting the use of MIDs in the classroom is a battle that, as a teacher, you are never going to win, especially with their increased usage. As to how I am going to use them in my classroom, I am not quite sure. I think that at first I need to ease myself into them and not get too complicated or technical right off the bat. I have used 'mypolleverywhere' for lessons and presentations in University, and had nothing but great success with them. I also really like the idea of using MIDs for a research based assignment. Having students be able to pull out their phones instead of having them line up and trudge down to the computer lab would be much more efficient.
